Week 9

In Studio User Testing

Tested on 19-22 year olds.

Feedback

Sarah - the bar at the top with sections is used way more often than the menu button, tested on 4 people and each made it through with no mistakes and one click per page

Hemi - went to 'my favourites' but wasn't sure if they should click 'login' button in drop down menu, 'log in/sign up' could be taken our of the drop down menu completely and become it's own thing at the top

Barry - easy to follow, definitely not log in first so this path works, although Barry might want to browse through his recommends

Haiyan - 'all events' button, 'events' is hard to tell it's a button, should there be sections on the events page, not in the menu?

Could make one of these user flows start somewhere not at the home page, eg. follow a link from another source and go straight to an article.

All up, each of my user journeys was successful, no major issues or mistakes and everyone managed to work their way through to the end. This is a good sign to me that the flow of my menu and information layout makes sense.

Figma

Desktop and mobile sites based on paper prototypes.
All 4 user journeys are functional but the site has no design yet.

Website Research

Categories of sites and the particular feature I liked the most about them.

Colour

https://lechefdorchestreducorps.fr/chapter-2

- as I hover over each element, the colour of the background on the left changed, this is also an example of  menu that exists right on the page

Navigation and Menu

- full page menu, cross through page you clicked on
https://canals-amsterdam.nl/

- big circular exit button
https://nieuwbergen.com/

- full screen menu, menu icon is just a blue circle which relates to the whole message of the site
http://spaceforce.design/

- uses a grid but changes the size and placement of the images which is refreshing
